RDX and HMX are common explosives. You can buy them in the us with a license. RDX is used in C4 in a plastic form.

HMX is HighMeltingpointeXplosive and has a "yield" around 20 to 30 percent greater than tnt, per weight (c4 is similar). There are lots of comparison methods on explosives so I'm estimating. Nuclear weapons use explosives as a lens to focus energy. Early bombs used rdx and tnt, later hmx was used because it has a higher melting point.

Loosing that much explosive is stupid but the chemicals are not magical and do not pose more or less of a threat than the contents of an unfired 155mm artillery shell.
