al Sistani in other words, and is worded as a complaint that they would not take it before. This puts further blame on al Sistani, who already looks bad, and deflects any blame to al Sadr for being there. I suspect he is going to leave Najaf now, he has what he wanted from the US (all those nice pictures of us bombing the shit out of Najaf and all those stories about his successful defiance). If you read any of his statements in full as published on al Jajeera, it is clear that his meaning is being wildly distorted for propaganda purposes, but that is all aimed at us here at home.
Anyway, that is how it looks to me at present.
