Bush obviously is planning to remain in power post-November. He's moving troops from Korea to Iraq, and moving what troops stay in Korea to the southern part of that peninsula, so that he may go after the remaining axes of evil: North Korea and Iran, maybe with a side trip to axelette Syria.
He'll start the draft in 2005 just as soon as possible. I'll be watching to see if procurement of ordnance, vehicles and parts go sky high. I was a child and teenager in Michigan during Vietnam, and I remember the huge increase in manufacturing jobs, with overtime, to produce both tanks and Mustangs, guns and butter. That money came from somewhere. My guess is that personnel and materiel will not be ready to go until sometime in 2006. Bush will be ready to rumble in late 2006 or 2007.
My guess is that he'll start with Iran in a conventional attack perhaps overland from Iraq, and by sea and landing craft around the Strait of Hormuz, in an attempt to secure the oil tanker route. Then if North Korea starts to give him trouble, he'll use nukes, battlefield or otherwise, to take care of Kim Jong-il.
Few will mourn the loss of Kim, but any use of nukes on the North Korean people will simply mean that the U.S. will become an absolute pariah, and have no friend in the world, except Israel perhaps. Overseas investors may pull their money our of the U.S.--stock markets, government bonds and U.S. subsidiaries. It is unclear to me whether major countries would continue to trade with us, including the Chinese, who might try to invade Taiwan amid the chaos.
If, heaven forbid, Bush steals another election, it'll be interesting to see what Japan does. Will it encourage the U.S. to remove its bases? Perhaps we will start pulling out of Japan to protect our troops from retaliation by the North Koreans.
I certainly hope that my imagination is working overtime this afternoon. Nonetheless, I strongly believe that Bush's actions here portend real danger considering the mentality of those directing those actions.
The bottom line is that Bush must be stopped!
