I didn't see the 60 Minutes II show last nite... with the photos of the prisoners in Iraq being abused. I just saw them on the web. I just wonder if the Arab/Muslim "street" is seeing them. If so, we will NEVER know another day of peace. Long after this war is over, they'll be hunting Americans.

If our troops had been treated like that, we'd certainly never rest until everybody anywhere near guilty had paid and paid.... and paid. Muslims are much more offended than we are about being shamed by women and nudity and simulated sex between men.

Punishment of the offenders will never satisfy Islam, and certainly not a "written repremand" for the Officer in Charge.

I feel more hopeless tonite than ever before during this "war".

The abuse of those prisoners is NOT mistreatment... not against policy but rather policy implimentation.

In my dim and distant past, I was sent to "POW school" and "Escape and Evasion" school in the Marine Corps.
The real titles should have been "Beat the Shit Out of the Prisoner" school.
The whole sadistic bit revolved around the "guards" trying to "break" the "prisoners".

Perhaps the only thing that kept things from getting dangerous and going completely over the line in those "schools" was good Non-Commissioned Officers... Sergeants... Gunnery Sergeants, actually. Obviously, the American kids had no NCO's or junior officers to control the situation.
