Being allowed to say stupid stuff is what America is all about (what do you think would happen to people like us in Iran - for speaking out about things like contraception, abortion, etc?). That is waaaaay different that putting the force of law on something as ridiculous as this.

In a country this big and diverse, you're going to have those who want to preserve a time that never really happened (Father Knows Best type show were always fantasies). It's up to the men, women and the young in those districts to keep from going backwards. I know it's easy from a place like New York to make fun of stuff like this and I do realize that my life would be much more difficult in any deep red district but I will fight like hell for the women who have to live in such places. And as bad as some of those places are (blows me away we still have dry counties in the US), I would much rather live there than in a place that hangs its homosexuals. The comparison to Iran is ludicrous.
