15. I read some really good stuff about guerillas on juancole.com

Really good classic stuff by a Prof Polk, a few posts down from the latest. It's excellent stuff about how guerilla warfare is primarily a political enterprize, replacing the government with a guerilla 'government' at the ground level. Only once the guerillas have legitimacy and people have a dependent relationship with them can they really take the fight to the enemy (like the Mahdi Army and Hamas). And only by winning hearts and minds and establishing local rule on a block by block, quarter by quarter basis, can guerillas be truly defeated.

Fascinating stuff really.
