I was asked if I wanted to start the series for my youngest when I took him in for his flu shot this fall. I opted not to that day, because I wanted to have both of my boys on the same schedule to minimize visits. They get their second shot in the series in January. My insurance company covers it fully.

I had taken both boys in for a physical two months prior and their ped didn't mention it. I started to see the new recommendation in the news right before the flu shot visit, so it didn't surprise me to be asked.
