The Republican won 45 percent of the vote.
Democrat Janice Hahn survived a scare Tuesday and grabbed the vacant 36th Congressional District House seat, but her nine-point winning margin over Republican Craig Huey was less than impressive in a district that often delivers big victories for Democrats.
