I went to basic training at "Fort lost in the woods", Missouri and we were doing a field training exercise. Drill Sergeants woke us up around 2am to bus us up back to the barracks because of tornado warnings so I guess it happens. Though I never independently confirmed this and a possible tornado in November seemed very odd to me.
I got in trouble for that because I was the squad leader and someone in my squad grabbed the person's weapon he was sleeping next to(and that person grabbed his).
