19. Here goes....
After going to http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2011/05/02/p...

It looks to me that that it was one of OBL's wives and they were not sure if she was put into a position or put herself into a position that resulted in the words "human shield". It has become clear now that it was not one of his wives and they have stepped back from human shield reference. I have no problem with that. They corrected it as they came to know more and he prefaced it by saying "as I understand it". That is not a statement of fact.

Also mentioned; more information yet to come (20 hours worth). Reading his comments carefully about those watching the operation it seems that they were not seeing every little thing that was going on. They were being updated in real-time along with video feed and by the end of the operation they were still waiting to find out if they indeed got OBL. I think they had a certain amount of access but probably did not know exactly what it was that they were seeing. It was 12:30am, probably dark with limited camera views considering that the operation was probably very chaotic. I have no clue if there was more than one person with a helmet cam which could account for even more chaotic viewing. Were they all fitted for helmet cams? If not was the person who shot OBL fitted with one? What if he wasn't? Was one person assigned the task to capture or kill OBL or was it tasked to several or all of them? Who would you know to follow if they were all wearing cams? No one seemed to know for sure that OBL was really even in there. Hence the gutsy decision many are refering to. Plus they were taking on fire from others inside the compound.

"But it was clearly very tense, a lot of people holding their breath. And there was a fair degree of silence as it progressed, as we would get the updates. And when we finally were informed that those individuals who were able to go in that compound and found the individual that they believe was bin Laden, there was a tremendous sigh of relief that what we believed and who we believed was in that compound actually was in that compound and was found. And the President was relieved once we had our people and those remains off target."

There is still some unanswered questions about OBL's resistance. It could be that OBL was not armed but reaching for something or ordering someone to shoot or even rushed a Seal to ensure that he was not captured alive. I'm sure there may be more examples I'm not thinking of.

They don't have everything out yet and I have never really seen many huge stories (if any) that ever get it right the first few times. Several news agencies have all kinds of conflicting information. It will take some time for this to come together.

I am only offering an opinion based on this press briefing and a little imagination of what other things could reasonably have happened. I will wait and see with the rest of the world what else comes out over the course of the next few weeks or months.

I don't think any of this warrants any kind of coverup scenario. It is just humans trying to communicate quickly as information is being passed on. Poorly maybe, but passed onto the public nonetheless.
