Is if your intent is to stop paying your debts.

This is a fundamental issue. Reasonable people can't disagree, nor can they compromise. When elected officials say this, they have decided to discard the social contract. This government no longer serves by the consent of the governed.

It is a line which people who fear anarchy wouldn't cross.
