with act of a supposedly democratic government supported 100% by "donations" required of its workers/voters upon penalty of law.

Plus, no one has a First Amendment right to know what private, self-supporting individuals are up to and no one needs info to vote on which private persons should be voted in or out.

I am not saying every single fact exposed should have been exposed. Just saying your analogy doesn't hold at all.

That said, most of the stuff I've seen should never have happened in the first place and/or never been classified in the first place.

I have a feeling some reactions here would be quite different if this had happened three years ago or happened only to other countries.
