But not for EVERYBODY and not everywhere.

When you enter the country they do. (From Canada or Mexico.) If you drive onto a military base they do. Right after 9/11 they did at certain airports. I'm fairly certain they shut down streets and inspect cars near the white house from time to time.

They are tying the policies of invasive searches to places they think are targets for terrorism - and right now I think that everyone can agree that airline travel is a target.

Could a terrorist blow up a building in Nebraska? Sure, that could be a target - but more likely targets are airports, or Times Square, or Washington DC.

Can we stop every terrorist plot if the terrorist are determined to hit? Probably not.

But since there HAS BEEN a terrorist with explosives in their shoes AND there has been a terrorist with explosives in his underwear they are making you take your shoes off and have you underwear and body searched for bombs.

Will that stop all future terrorism? No.

But if they stop the searches and then someone blows up an airplane with an underwear bomb this country will turn their position on a dime.

I really think people are upset over THIS issue because it affects them in a more direct way. (Kinda like meat eaters would get squeamish if you made them butcher (or watch someone else) butcher a live cow before they could eat a steak.)

Maybe the public outrage will stop this practice and we can go back to being just the country without healthcare, or a safety net, or good education for most of our citizens.
