Dear President Obama,

i read in the Huffington Post today, in an article citing Mr. Axelrod, that you will allow the Bush tax cuts to the very rich to expire. I felt like crying when i saw that. How long is the middle class expected to continue taking the brunt of this economic crisis while the rich continue getting richer?

Please, I am begging you, stand up for the rights of the middle-class and those in poverty. We have a broken government system where too many in Congress are advocates of the super-rich people who keep financing their re-election campaigns.

We have been so distressed by some of the compromises you have made to the right in the last two years. That is the real reason the Republicans have gained the House this year. People who would have voted for Democrats were too discouraged to show up at the polls.

You have a gift for communication. Please use it, and make your case directly to the American people.

Best wishes,
Shireen
