Founded by a British military man it is a paramilitary organization which I've heard leaders brag about the similarity between parts of the Boy Scout handbook and U.S. Military training manuals.They're wrong in several areas and this is one.I would not, however, expect to see the national leadership of the BSA stand up for the Mormon parents against the Baptists.
