Will the number of payers keep them viable, or will it simply give them enough to get by on while concurrently costing them prestige by having a decreased readership base? I'm about to cancel the LA Times. It's gotten more expensive and the quality has decreased. It used to be a liberal paper, now it is conservative one. In summary, I simply do not think the NYT's move here will work. For different reasons.
