43. I live on the Hudson
near Lincoln Center. The day after when the winds shifted you could not only smell the stench of plastics, chemicals and Death (let's call a spade a spade --- it was the smell of burned bodies), you could actually see the cloud moving up the River. I went down a couple of months after to take another look and the subway station nearest the site still reeked so terribly I had to hold my nose going up the stairs to street level. Although you couldn't get very close and the entire area was cordoned off you could still see (and smell) smoke rising from the site. God only knows what Manhattanites and people in the surrounding areas inhaled for months after. I strongly suspect we will be seeing more and more cancer deaths and pulmonary issues as the years pass, not only among the brave first responders but in the general population as well. I agree with you and expect nothing from the government.
