He was at that strike, among a couple other actions he's taken in the last few days, to drum up some support, because he knew this was coming. This was not punishment. These investigations take months. It's literally impossible that all these allegations were drummed up in 24h, and if there was a 'slow simmer' investigation going on, I doubt Fitzgerald would be willing to risk the conviction to hurry the indictments for political purposes.
