17. Obama leads in key swing states
Source: Boston.com

Democrat Barack Obama holds sizable leads in the key swing states of Ohio and Pennsylvania, and is hanging on to a narrower edge in Florida, according to new polls released this morning.

They give the latest sign of Obama's surge during the economic crisis that could -- unless Republican John McCain mounts a significant comeback -- result in an electoral landslide on Nov. 4.

The Quinnipiac University poll of likely voters in Florida shows Obama leading 49 percent to 44 percent, a slightly smaller lead than the 8-percentage-point edge he had in the same survey last month.

In Ohio, the Quinnipiac poll gives Obama a 52 percent to 38 percent lead, up from 8 percentage points last month.

And in Pennsylvania, Obama leads 53 percent to 40 percent, a slightly smaller gap than the 15-percentage-point lead he held in the poll last month.
