and India is now independent, because of "such actions."

"Rarely have an effect"? True, but when they DO have an effect--when an idea's time has come, and after all the "little" protests have built sufficient momentum--the effect is earth-shaking. Paradigms are overthrown. And then the idea--that took years, decades, sometimes centuries of activism and protest, to reach fruition--gets taken for granted, becomes part of the common wisdom, and people like you then say, "Don't bother. Such actions rarely have an effect"--because you apparently don't know the history of "such actions."
