I love the idea of civil disobedience. But Machiavelli always topped thoreau - all the gov has to do is gun down the people who sit down at protests once, and it's all over.

And as Machiavelli said, they will remember taking their land far longer than the killing of people in the family. Don't take their land and their fine.
