Rove ignores subpoena, refuses to testify

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Former White House adviser Karl Rove has ignored a subpoena from congressional Democrats to appear at a hearing on alleged political influence at the Justice Department.

Democrats subpoenaed him in May to force his testimony about whether he was involved in firing federal prosecutors. They also wanted to know if he sought to influence prosecutorial decisions, including in the corruption case against former Democratic Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman.

Rove had been scheduled to appear at a House Judiciary subcommittee hearing Thursday morning.

The panel was debating "appropriate action" over his refusal to show.
