I think there is something to what you say. Even though I would love to see him get the nomination, the fact is he's hardly a front runner. Aside from the fact that bringing impeachment to the floor of the House is the right thing to do, I think that given his present position as a candidate, he has very little to lose and perhaps a great deal to gain by doing it. Few if any of the others among the elected members of the party have any balls. It seems to me that guts are one of the few things that get the attention of Americans. If voters saw, among this sea of candidate rejects, someone who actually holds democratic principles and has the courage to stand up for them, I for one think they would be favorably impressed.
