The cowardly state we may or may not live is is not related to the fact that we arm ourselves to the teeth. Many dozens of countries have vast swatches of their populaces living in fear. They by and large are not allowed to arm themselves, that is why they are not 'armed to the teeth', despite living in as much if not more fear.
