31. Whoa! Does she vote----YES!
Look I don't think you realize what's happening in Lake County. People in the northern part of it are being taxed out of their homes. Your reference to St. John is way earlier than what's been going on there in the last few years. And,yes she is very vocal. I have pictures of her that appeared in the local papers at meetings and even informal gatherings protesting lots of issues....even the lack of presence of stop lights on U.S. Hwy. 41.

This property tax situation is a Lake County issue. For a while they didn't even pay property taxes,,,,,,,it was on hold til those in charge decided what to do. Then, of course, the county needed money so they eradically send out these bills. Lake County lost so much industry that property taxes took up the slack. But when a home's market value is higher than the realistic selling price someting is wrong. And, now that the taxes are so exorbitant these homes will be difficult to sell. My sister lives in Valpo which is in Porter County...they're not experiencing these problems that Lake County has. It's a big problem there. After the first re-assessing by the Ohio assessors there was such outrage that another group was hired to do it all over again! Again, it's a mess. Hopefully, your county is not experiencing this.
