Reply #59: GOP is doing what it is supposed to do, OPPOSE

When Democrats were in the minority they failed to OPPOSE Bush's policies, and filibuster the likes of Alito.

A political party can be one of two things: a party in coalition with the government, or a party in opposition to the government. Anything else is a social club, not a political party.

Democrats must OPPOSE Bush at all times. The best way to OPPOSE Bush is to fully support Democrats such as John Conyers who has gathered a lot of evidence of Bush's high crimes and misdemeanors, and Senator Chris Dodd who will introduce a bill shortly to restore habeas corpus.

The entire 6 years of the Bush regime we heard from so-called "centrist" Democrats calling for cooperation and bipartisanship with Bush, another term for appeasement. What did we get out of that? Loss of civil liberties, dictatorial powers by the Executive Branch, a war of choice in Iraq, lack of accountability from government officials, loss of constitutional checks and balances.

The American people have spoken at the polls, they want a change in course! Voting to continue the war, and putting Bush's extremist judicial nominees on the bench is not a change in course. It is capitulation to the most criminal regime in our history, and a betrayal of the American people.
