Bush forget that Baker saved his bacon in Florida (with a little help from Katherine Harris) in 2000? I think that the "Bush Loyalty" meme is exaggerated anyway. He is loyal as long as he thinks a subordinate is still on board and is helping him politically ("heckava job Brownie"). He is loyal as long as having someone at his side is less threatening than throwing him under the train (Rove, Rummy). But he will dump anyone if hanging on to them is not in his interest. (Lott, DeLay, "Kenny Boy" Lay, Powell). Some loyalty.
