14. That's not the point at all.
The point is that the Dems want people to see this election as purely involved with the "personalities" of the candidates - and nothing to do with the parties they represent.

The Dem. party is very progressive in certain areas, when compared to the Repubs. But the Dems supported the war, voted for the tax cut to the wealthy, supported the patriot Act, and have only now begun to really push for answers from Bush.

No one believes that the Greens will get more than 3-8% of the votes for president. Factor in every other party running and that leaves about 80% of the electorate. What the Dems are afraid of, is that they won't get more than 40% of the vote.

This is because most Dems do not really feel the party is far enough left - hence the "fear" of the Greens. If Dems thought the party should move more to the center, they wouldn't be worried about the far left.
