Let's just assume for a moment that this makes any logical sense at all. (Actually, if anyone can tell me the physics of just how something like this could possibly work, please let me know. It sounds awfully made-up to me.)

Anyway, let's say it's a real threat. Why does putting said liquid in checked-in bags make any difference? If someone planned to detonate one of these bottles or containers using an electronic device as what I can only assume would be a remote-control detonator, why does it matter whether the explosive is in the cargo hold or in the cabin? Wouldn't the remote still work?

This whole thing just smacks of something to induce more paranoia.

Do I doubt there was a foiled terrorist plot? Not really. But I really don't buy the whole "liquid explosive detonated with an iPod" story either.

Just another story to make us all a little more crazy.
