It really is scary as hell, not to mention, frustrating as well. I see this very thing going on where I work all the time.

Right before the 2002 general election, there was one woman in the office who sort of "led" the political move. The day before the election she brought a "voting guide" from the Christian Coalition, passed it around, and told everyone in the office to vote according to that (this was in Texas, by the way).

The day after the election they were all browsing the paper to see the results. The "leader" was looking at a picture of John Cornyn (who had won the Senate seat in Texas) and said, "That's Mr. Cronyan (couldn't even pronounce his name). He's the one I voted for. He's against abortion."

And there you have it... need I say more. This kind of bubble-headedness in the "politics of the masses" is what drives this country. It is, indeed, very frightening, and very sickening.
