My Dad did get to Israel, as well as to Egypt and Jordan, but Lebanon was just too dangerous then, as it is now. And it doesn't look like things are getting any better.:-(

I also have another story about my Dad. He was still on the tarmac on a plane in Cairo, headed for Amman. He was a very friendly guy, fortunate for him. He started a conversation with the guy in the next seat, just being sociable. He said that he wondered if it would be as hot in Amman as it was there in Cairo. The guy hesitated and then replied "this plane does not go to Amman, this plane goes to Baghdad!" Yikes, my Dad was on the wrong plane! So he got off in time. And this was in 1985, not a good time to visit Iraq, as if any time would be...:scared:

And I am sincere in my best wishes for your friend. This does not look like a good time to return to Lebanon. I'm always hoping that peace will break out, but things just seem to escalate and I'm not very hopeful...;(
