1) Government derives its legitimacy from the people it governs, and 2) power corrupts.

They'll have this unseemly business of K-Street gangsters buying our representatives and running our government straightened out in no time. So, don't worry. All appearances of corruption will soon be tied to the infamous, transcontinental, decade-spanning Clenis! There must be a blow job in here somewhere! Then the press can get on with their work. If all else fails, there could be some talk of "reform."
