Until about 1984, there were NO Republican judges to speak of in Texas, at least not running as such.

Any judge who is retired and 80 graduated from law school about the time Herman Sweatt had to sue to get into UT law school, and was pushing 40 before segregation of schools took place.

If he's from Waco, aka Wacko, he's conservative, and he probably votes Republican. But that doesn't mean he will help them out by being a waterboy for DeLay.

Of all the guys to get the case, Perkins was the most vulnerable to this recusal action.
