51. I heard the exact same thing, that this was a wax replica, and that's the
reason I looked so closely at him! I was determined to decide if this was true, LOL! And, from what I observed, I was pretty sure that he was the genuine article. But, as I said, he looked amazingly good, having been there for so long, and that's the reason I interrogated our guide, who explained that he was re-embalmed every ten years. She was really quite good, and friendly to us Americans, not something that was always true when I visited, just before the USSR fell. The Russians I spoke to really disliked Reagan, but warmed up to me and my peace group, after we explained that we supported Jimmy Carter! :D

And that is fascinating, about Chairman Mao. I think that my parents may have seen him. I'll ask my mother what she thought... Thanks! :shrug:
