New Yorkers fear London-style attack, poll shows

NEW YORK, July 20 (Reuters) - Most New Yorkers are worried that an attack like the July 7 London bombings is likely in their city but have not let it affect their lives and most believe they are personally safe, a poll showed on Wednesday.

"Not many of us believe the city is really ready for another attack. But New Yorkers believe the show must go on," said Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute which conducted the survey of 1,313 people.

The survey showed that 72 percent of those asked were "very worried" or "somewhat worried" that an attack similar to the London suicide bombings on subway trains and a bus that killed more than 50 people would occur in New York.

New York has been on high alert for another attack since the Sept. 11, 2001 hijacked plane attacks which felled the World Trade Center twin towers and killed nearly 3,000 people.
