MassMutual hired Guiliani's law firm
By Brett Arends
Thursday, June 23, 2005

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani was yesterday dragged into the deepening MassMutual scandal with the revelation that his law firm, Bracewell & Giuliani, conducted the investigation into the actions of ousted chairman and CEO Robert O'Connell.

The role of Bracewell & Giuliani, which the former mayor joined at the end of March, was revealed in court documents filed yesterday in Springfield.

MassMutual's embattled executives may have hoped for a halo effect from the link to the popular Giuliani.

But instead, the law firm's involvment raises new questions about its own behavior and ethics in the events surrounding O'Connell's firing three weeks ago.
