2:00PM: Stocks still show little vigor, having moved little all day, underscoring the epitome of warm-weather doldrums on the first day of summer... Meanwhile, Consumer Staples (-0.2%) has been a focal point for investors, getting a boost after Kroger (KR 19.42 +1.73) beat analysts' Q1 (Apr) forecasts by $0.05 on stronger than expected revenues and raised its FY05 guidance, due in part to continued progress in southern California... As a result, grocers across the board - SWY (+3.9%), ABS (+2.5%) and SVU (+1.15) - have traded higher in sympathy...

1:30PM: More of the same for stocks, as market internals still suggest a mixed bias... As reflected in the A/D line, advancers and decliners on the NYSE remain evenly matched while advancing issues on the Nasdaq hold a 16 to 13 edge over declining issues... The ratio of up to down volume at both the Big Board and the Composite, however, holds a slightly positive tone to trading...
