Once upon a time (almost ten years ago) I actually bought (insert cringe here)Wal-Mart stock, in some measure of ignorance of who they were and what they stood for.
In the last few years, I became more and more aware of just how reprehensible they are. I was very outspoken about how bad they were, and had never and will never set foot in a Wal-Mart.
Since joining DU last November, I've been taking body blow after body blow to my conscience for saying all that while owning a piece of responsibility for Wal-Mart's actions.

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa (you Catholics out there will get it.)

It was DU that finally woke me to my need to SELL the damned stock. I'm cleaning house in my small retirement account, taking out the red companies, even if I take a hit in the process.
Anyone think that perhaps there's a lot more stories like this out there, and
that's a good part of the reason Wal-Mart is slipping?
I stand by for public punishment; I only ask that you don't put me in the stocks in the DU town square.
