Acceptance Speech for the 2004 Democratic Presidential Nominee

My fellow Americans,
I don't want to take away your guns.
I am deeply honored by the Democratic nomination for President,
and I don't want to take away your guns. I will do my best,
as your chosen candidate, to represent the Democratic Party
and platform to the American people. Plus, I don't want to
take away your guns.
There are many complex challenges facing us as a nation in
the next four years, but I don't want to take away your guns.
I feel that with the hard work and determination that have
always characterized our Party's membership, we can show America
that I don't want to take away your guns.
It will be a special goal of my campaign to demonstrate to
the American people that I don't want to take away your guns,
and to listen to the hopes and concerns of all of our citizens.
And, by the way, I don't want to take away your guns.
We Democrats have always been the Party of America's working
people, farmers, and families, and I don't want to take away
your guns. The policies that help us keep our families and
children healthy will produce peace and prosperity for all
Americans, and I promise that I don't want to take away your
guns.
Some of the most important issues that face our nation include
an inadequate educational system, which my administration
will address by not taking away your guns. We will also make
a strong stand on protecting the environment, the heritage
of every American. My program of not taking away your guns
will help us conserve the most important natural assets of
our great country.
(show emotion here, bang the podium gently with fist)
What America needs is out-of-the-box thinking! And our Party
can deliver what America needs because (slowly, with emphasis)
I…don't…want…to…take…away…your…guns!
(wait for applause to subside)
As your candidate for the Presidency, I feel deeply my responsibility
to ensure the well-being of every sector of our economy. This
is why I don't want to take away your guns. We can work creatively
to bring together the business community and the interests
of labor to build a strong economy that will not take away
anyone's guns!
