3. Well, from what I've learned here, it's not just the state, but which area of the state

Most states have both Democratic and Republican areas. I live in New York, but in the northeast, so my district is mostly Republican. Most of New York is, but it's a blue state because of New York City. So we're lucky enough to have a Democratic governor, two Democratic senators and just elected a Democratic congressman.
