Democratic Party rank in file. Most of them are not liberal enough. They want bipartisanship. We need to attract more liberals. Add to the fact that most Americans are uninformed about the process, and there's your answer.

Republicans are expected to play politics.
Democrats are expected to BE bipartisan. They are expected to govern.

As long as the American people continue to hold this double standard and remain uninformed about how government truly works, the president will suffer and the Republicans will reap the benefits.

You wonder why the Republicans don't seem to care about their approval ratings? It's because they represent homogenous constituencies (especially in the House). They don't care because they know that we--including us here on DU--will blame the president FIRST!!
