Filibuster? We're not going to be the majority forever ...

I think abolishing it is too short-sighted.

Yes! Make them talk. Make them own their objections in public. Indpndnt Nov 2012 #1
It has to be ASAP. Only on the first day of session can this be changed by a simple majority. Kablooie Nov 2012 #3
The Senate claims it is always in session. merrily Nov 2012 #6
The first day of the new 113th Congress will be around January 3rd Tx4obama Nov 2012 #8
Perhaps every DUer should remind their Senator, and Reid, before that date? FailureToCommunicate Nov 2012 #15
I know, but that is exactly what the debate is about. merrily Nov 2012 #45
Well, I don't really know what you're trying to say... BUT Tx4obama Nov 2012 #46
I understood your first post. I am saying not everyone agrees that a new Senate session merrily Nov 2012 #48
Grandstanding for months...sure bjobotts Nov 2012 #42
This way they can delay a majority vote but can't prevent it. Kablooie Nov 2012 #2
I would say no to that first part... Volaris Nov 2012 #13
They'll all claim to be Jimmy Stewart fighting for the rights of the little guy. Kablooie Nov 2012 #18
and that's the point. If they have to own what the rest of us think is stupid policy, Volaris Nov 2012 #29
I'll believe it when I see it. MustBeTheBooz Nov 2012 #4
What's good about this solution is the Repubs don't have any reasonable objection. NYC Liberal Nov 2012 #5
The Constitution certainly contemplates suppression of the minority. merrily Nov 2012 #7
I John2 Nov 2012 #27
I'd support that. There should be a time limit too. NYC Liberal Nov 2012 #28
It's no solution at all. Abolish the 60 vote cloture rule. merrily Nov 2012 #9
I agree that the bill should be at least debated. Nobody seems to understand the word "cloture", SleeplessinSoCal Nov 2012 #14
Agreed, there is no reason to preserve the filibuster. Period. Ray Beckerman Nov 2012 #36
Best news I've heard in a LONG time! Up2Late Nov 2012 #10
There was some really really good news about nine days ago :) Tx4obama Nov 2012 #11

Hi, HockeyTown4Ever! beac Nov 2012 #40
We will see! Milliesmom Nov 2012 #20
It's not a bill. It is a rule change vote at the being of the session which takes only 51 yes votes Tx4obama Nov 2012 #23
Thank You Milliesmom Nov 2012 #34
