Lady on Oreilly and future of Republican party [View all]
Some lady was guest hosting oreilly tonight (no clue who she is). The topic came up of whether the republicans should move to the center. She was as condescending as can be in her response. It was like her version of Colbert's "The Word" so this was the really meaningful and well thought out argument.
She said that Republicans should not, in any way, move to the center. They need to "bring women and latinos into the party but without pandering to them." She went further, stating moderate republicans do not win but very conservative ones do. Examples like Scott Brown and McMahon (conneticut) prove this model. She finished with stating that President obama did not become more moderate to win votes, instead he maintained his "liberal" views; therefore why should the republicans move to the center if Obama refuses to.
Ok...she is an idiot. So you are telling me that the only reason republicans lose is because they are too moderate? That makes no sense. Yes, voters want a severely conservative candidate but because they dont get one they instead vote for the liberal. got it. This just speaks more and more to the huge disconnect they have with the reality based community. They only listen to arguments and information that supports their world view, everything else is ignored or considered a lie. Therefore, they see no problems with their worldview and make absurd conclusions to validate it.
Just like the republican guy I know who said Santorum would win moderate and independent voters.
