I don't need to fit in. I can be myself.

For most of my life, I was terrified of adults. Parents, teachers, bosses. I couldn't express my opinions, I couldn't say no, because something awful would happen. I'd get fired or they'd hate me. They called me stupid, slow, lazy, incompetent. I had no boundaries.

Now that I'm 57 and retired, I don't have to tolerate anyone to keep a job. It's taken me years to assert myself. Nobody has rational discussion anymore, at least not outside the courtroom. It's frustrating b/c I have a law degree and spent 20 years as a court reporter. I got burned out and hated humanity due to the arbitrary and unnecessary meanness shown to me by certain lawyers and judges.

The guy in the book club who I thought was my friend (b/c he likes classical music & opera, like I do) got mad b/c I said I didn't like people talking about what god wants, what makes god angry, etc. at the book club when it was not relevant.

Like the woman who said "I told my niece that God gets angry when you text OMG. Don't do that!" These folks actually believe this stuff.......

He is starting a Shakespeare & Martinis club w/a retired English professor. He told me he would not invite me as I would be "disruptive". The only play I liked was Julius Caesar. I had bad English teachers who made other plays boring. I don't hang out with people who drink lots of alcohol either, b/c it causes behavior I don't want to witness.
