Man booked under hurting religious sentiments attacked in court complex with swords [View all]

MANSA: The situation became highly volatile at Sardulgarh courts when two persons including a religious outfit head attacked another religious figure with swords. The seriously injured Bagicha Singh, who works as drum beater at religious places, has been referred to Faridkot. Bagicha had landed at the court complex to depose before a magistrate in a case of hurting religious sentiments, registered in the past against him. Religious outfit Eknoor Khalsa Fauz state president Baljinder Singh Khalsa and Gurjeet Singh have been booked under attempt to murder charges.

Mansa SSP Narinder Bhargava confirming the incident said "efforts are being made to arrest the persons responsible for attack".

As per information Bagicha Singh of Jalalabad on Saturday had come to appear in court in a case registered against him u/s 295A for using defamatory language against Sikhs in some chips recorded by him. Hurt over the language used, two persons attacked him when he was heading towards the chamber of his advocate after appearing in court. Eyewitnesses said the assailants attacked Bagicha Singh on head and other body parts with swords and fled away. Knowing about the incident, the tension prevailed in the area and Bagicha was taken to Mansa civil hospital from where he was shifted to Faridkot hospital.

The police cordoned off the area but by then the attackers had run away. Sardulgarh bar condemned the incident. Bar association vice president Manish Kumar denouncing the incident said "adequate security need to be deployed in the court complex".
