Is that FIRST COMMANDMENT from Exodus 20:1-17 not to be taken seriously?
Have you not seen the results of such intolerance?
Are you unaware of the history of religious intolerance? And the resulting hatred and violence?
Are you unaware, from the Bible alone, all the stories of the hatred and violence produced by such religious intolerance? In how many Biblical stories have those who have followed the religious teaching smote (past tense of smite) their enemies who were perceived as having worshipped another god or gods?
"Thou shalt have no other gods before me" = Hate your neighbors if they worship any other god or gods.
And deliver violence to them if you can. (I.e., if you are strong enough, if you are in the vicinity of such persons and have the opportunity to do so, and if you have the support of other like-minded individuals similar to yourself.)
If the First Commandment, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me," is a core value, why not accept it as it is?
