5. If you read the comments the reporter was taken to task her use of the word assault rifle
From the story :
One of the men held a 3-foot-long assault rifle. A fourth man stood guard behind the house, outside the back door.
The robbers returned fire with an automatic weapon and another gun.
ETA Sorry I forgot to quote the person taking er to task
copperhead54Naomi, you have used 3 different terms to describe the weapon used by one the criminals; "military style", "assault rifle/weapon", and "automatic weapon". Do you actually know what any of those things mean, or are you just tossing around buzz words to add sizzle instead of fact? The first two are media and political hyperbole that really have no rational definition./EDIT
Automatic weapon does have a legal and rational definition, and in looking at the accompanying photos I doubt an automatic weapon was used. First, only 15 shots were fired by two guns according to you. An AW could have fired that in about 2.5 seconds, and would only be about 1/2 a magazine. They fire so fast that the bullet holes would have been closer together in a more recognizable pattern. These are scattered all over the room randomly.
The homeowners saw the guns through their video surveillance and described them to me, one being a three-foot long rifle. The military uses such automatic rifles, hence my description. The husband described the shots as happening so quickly that he said it had to be some kind of automatic firearm. I'm not making up anything, just reporting the victim's story. Thanks for reading.
