Instead of asking questions, you keep making inaccurate assumptions.
Right ......so having two unloaded fire arms is so much easier to quickly and safely respond to a nonexistent threat in the woods because you need both? Illogical.
What leads you to believe that a hunter would have two unloaded guns with him when those two guns are the hunting rifle and the handgun?
PS. "Ignorant" is not an insult, it is just a description of a small level of knowledge; a level that can be upgraded if the person so desires.

Most hunters (in my experience) carry the rifle on their shoulder via a sling.
