BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- The Ministry of Education in the Gaza Strip is considering teaching Hebrew in 2013 as an elective course, an official said Sunday.
A number of courses in modern Hebrew are being prepared, deputy minister of education in Gaza Ziad Thabit said during a curriculum meeting.
Several Hebrew speakers took part in the meeting, together with the ministry's director of curricula Sumayyah Nakhalah.
Teaching Hebrew would be part of a drive by the ministry to introduce foreign languages into the curriculum. The ministry will also discuss the possibility of teaching Turkish in the future, Thabit said.
