Last year GE got a 3 million grant to look at compposites and MRI tech in an effort to reach 15Mw, IIRC there is a consortium from Spain doing similar R&D.

6Mw is great news, expected tho. With HVDC offshore supergrids proposed for the East coast of the US and the North Sea, this is exciting.
